Carp Solutions uses two highly effective systems for full-scale, selective carp removal: baited box nets and electric guidance and barrier systems.

To establish how severe the carp problem is in your lake, we use two main techniques: boat electrofishing surveys and various kinds of mark-release-recapture analyses.

We track movements of carp using a variety of methods including PIT tags, acoustic tags and radio tags.

To assess where and how often carp recruit (produce offspring) we commonly conduct trapnet surveys for juvenile carp in shallow nursery sites and age adult carp using otoliths. Analyzing otoliths helps identify how many age classes are present in the population.

We use models developed specifically for carp to simulate their abundance under different management scenarios.

We perform lake surveys to assess goldfish abundance, size and age composition and develop management schemes for these invasive fish.

Low-voltage electric barriers and guidance systems can block migrating carp and direct them into traps for removal.

Citizen volunteers, non-profits and local governments can help scale-up management efforts, build community engagement, and reduce costs.
